Luxury south-east Queensland residential developer Spyre Group is looking to get more sand between its toes on the Gold Coast.
It has lodged plans for a high-end beachfront proposal at Tugun, along the booming but laidback coastal strip near the city’s airport precinct.
The boutique midrise scheme comprising nine apartments is earmarked for a 760sq m site at 2 Dune Street and would replace a two-level 1970s-built block of flats.
Under the plans before the Gold Coast City Council, a mix of three and four-bedroom units would be accommodated across seven levels.
“Tugun follows the completion of our Glasshouse development in Burleigh Heads and serves as a continuation in our endeavour to reshape coastal apartment living,” Spyre managing director Daniel Laruccia said.
“For Spyre, Tugun combines the promotion of truly aspirational design with all the necessities of a day-to-day beachfront lifestyle.”
The project marks Spyre’s second collaboration with Cavill Architects, which it also tapped to design a 15-unit scheme for one of the last remaining riverfront blocks at Brisbane’s upmarket Bulimba.
“The design produced for Byron Street in Bulimba brought a unique presence to the suburb’s typical streetscape, and their proposal for Dune St is no exception to their continual pursuit for excellence” Spyre director Andrew Malouf said.
The Dune Street project is slated to be launched to market later this year.
Spyre’s ultra luxury Glasshouse development at Burleigh twice shattered Queensland apartment price records.
Its initial $20-million record-breaking sale occurred off-the-plan in 2022 and it was subsequently smashed the following year by the $24-million purchase of a three-level apartment created from two merged remaining units in the development.
